Keri Russell marks her dramatic return to television with The Americans, FX's scripted series about the marriage of two KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington DC during the Reagan era.

13 episodes have been ordered of the period drama which makes its debut in early 2013 and also stars Matthew Rhys (who plays husband to Russell) and Noah Emmeric, who plays an FBI agent working in counter intelligence, posing as the couple's neighbor.

The Americans will be the third drama series on the FX schedule, joining Sons of Anarchy (the highest-rated series in the network's history) and Justified, which begins production of its fourth season in October and returns in January.
