NCIS: LA delivered some thematic and literal explosive moments in its third season. As fans anxiously await Season 4's premiere this fall, here are a few bonus features from the DVD, including a behind-the-scenes look at some of the explosions.

"The simple act of blowing up a car, it may seem very simple. It may seem like a very straightforward job. It's not," says creator and executive producer Shane Brennan. "There's much more to it."

As explosions are commonplace among police procedural television series, it is the job of writer and producer R. Scott Gemmill, alongside the rest of the creative team, to make each explosion unique and exciting.

"We want to push ourselves. We don't want to do the same thing every time," Gemmill says. "It's always about, 'What could we do differently?" and everyone's really good about trying to make that happen because it's fun for them. We also entertain ourselves, I think."
