Dancing with the Stars was hit with another double elimination Tuesday night, which sent Gilles Marini and Kirstie Alley packing. While Alley seemed unfazed after the show, Marini and his dancing partner Peta Murgatroyd were dispirited in light of their elimination.
"It's tough, man. You work extremely hard, and the next thing you know, it's not validated," Marini said in an uncharacteristic somber tone. "It's not like it's a judged contest by professional dancers. It's a little bit of everything."

With his dancing partner comforting him, Marini assessed that his elimination was due in part to the marathon dance, which resulted in scores that slotted him at his lowest this season. The French actor also highlighted a general facet of the show that he attributes to his elimination.
"It tells me again that work is one thing. This show is so much more than just work," he said. "I just concentrated on working--probably that was my Achilles: too many hours [working] and not concentrating on--I don't know--party, have fun, good time."
During rehearsals prior to the season's premiere, Marini declared that he wanted to win the Mirrorball Trophy for his daughter after coming home empty-handed from Dancing's finals in 2009. While his daughter may be disappointed that he once again did not bring home a shiny trophy to place on the mantel, he views this as an opportunity to teach her about winning and losing.

Although disappointment reigned supreme for Marini on Tuesday, the elimination gave him a chance to express his heartfelt gratitude to his partner. Before the two walked through the press line, he pulled her aside and shared his endearing words, which made her cry.
"This woman was in my life 24/7 and she never gave up anything, and she always wanted me to look amazing and she pushed me to places that I never knew I would go when it comes down to these performances," he retold ET of his talk with his partner.
"I felt safe at all times," he praised. "I was always worried because this is my personality [and] I wanted to do so much more, but I always felt safe with her. I had the best time."
