"I'm coming home," Robin Roberts announced on Monday morning, revealing to Good Morning America fans that she'll be returning to the morning show.

In a live interview from her New York City apartment, Roberts, who received a bone marrow transplant this past September to treat MDS, told her excited co-hosts, "We're talking now a matter of weeks, not months."

Roberts, 52, will have a slow transition. The co-anchor revealed that she'll do a "dry run" upon returning to the show under the supervision of doctors to confirm that coming back to TV will not be a hazard to her health. "My skin is very sensitive and so we have to see how it reacts to the studio lights. My vision is still a little blurry from the treatment All of this is getting better day by day so that is the next step."

Adding of her return, "I'm so happy to be sharing this news with everybody. We're going to take it step by step … I'm listening to my doctors. I'm taking everything into account but this is a next step and I'm so excited to be sharing it with everyone."
