How I Met Your Mother
will finally introduce audiences to the titular matriarch ... next season. Which will also be the CBS' comedy's final season.

In a press release issued by the network today, it was announced that the Emmy-nominee would be back for a ninth and final season this September, with all five main cast members returning as well.

"Through eight years, How I Met Your Mother has mastered the art of leading-edge comedy, emotional water-cooler moments and pop culture catch phrases," said Nina Tassler, President, CBS Entertainment. "We are excited for Carter [Bays, co-creator], Craig [Thomas, co-creator], [director] Pam Fryman and this amazing cast to tell the final chapter and reveal television’s most mysterious mother to some of TV's most passionate fans."

Fans learned last week that Ted meets his future wife at Barney and Robin's wedding, where she's playing in the band. But whether or not we will see her face before this season comes to a close still remains a mystery.

How I Met Your Mother
airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
