Mads Mikkelsen gives Anthony Hopkins a run for his money with his unique and different take on author Thomas Harris's infamous character Hannibal Lecter in the new NBC series Hannibal, premiering April 4. We've got a first look at the new trailer for the show, but beware -- there's plenty of creepy and disturbing imagery that comes along with serial killer territory.

Centering on Will Graham (played by Hugh Dancy), the serial killer profiler first introduced in Red Dragon, the FBI hunt is on for a twisted killer whose trail of blood proves to be too complicated for Graham to handle, prompting him to recruit the mind of mysterious psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter. Only we know that Hannibal is also a cannibalistic serial killer, and that's half the fun of the devilishly devious character, who forms a brilliant partnership with the unwitting Graham.

Oscars Flashback '92: Hopkins' Hannibal Triumph

The new NBC drama, airing Thursdays at 10/9c starting April 4, is from Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies, Heroes) and also stars Laurence Fishburne as Jack Crawford, Scott Thompson, Hettienne Park, Caroline Dhavernas, Aaron Abrams and Lara Jean Chorostecki.
