It's finally official. Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update host Seth Meyers has landed another desk job as the new host of Late Night.

"Since 1982, there have been three Late Night hosts starting with David Letterman, and Seth couldn't be in better company," Lorne Michaels, Executive Producer of Late Night, said of the new host.

Replacing Jimmy Fallon who will begin hosting the Tonight Show in 2014, Meyers, 39, said of the opportunity, "I only have to work for Lorne for five more years before I pay him back for the time I totaled his car. 12:30 on NBC has long been incredible real estate. I hope I can do it justice."

"We think Seth is one of the brightest, most insightful comedy writers and performers of his generation. His years at SNL's Weekend Update desk, not to mention being head writer of the show for many seasons, helped him hone a topical brand of comedy that is perfect for the Late Night franchise," Bob Greenblatt, Chairman of NBC Entertainment, said of the new host.

No official date has been set for Meyers' takeover of Late Night, but he will stay on as Weekend Update anchor through the end of the year. What do you think? Is this funnyman the right guy for the job?
