Robert Irvine Talks 'Food Network Star' Twist

By

On Sunday night's episode of season nine of Food Network Star, it was announced that for the first time in series history, eliminated contestants will get a second chance. ET has a clip from the newly announced web series Food Network Star Salvation, as well as the firsthand dish from Salvation host Robert Irvine.

The series will find eliminated contestants competing for a chance to re-enter the show on the Sunday, July 21 episode, and will feature culinary contests and skills challenges to determine the winner.

Irvine says he's "excited" to be hosting Food Network Star's first-ever chance for redemption, promising, "I think the viewers are going to love it. [It adds] another dynamic to the competition."

The Restaurant: Impossible host promises "bombshells," teasing that Salvation will be exciting: "Just when you think something is going to happen, it doesn’t."

Could a Salvation contestant win? Robert answers, "Anything is possible. … Whoever [Food Network Star hosts] Bobby [Flay], Giada [De Laurentiis] and Alton [Brown] kick out … they come back to Salvation and, could they win it? Absolutely."
