Roselyn Sanchez on 'Intense' Motherhood

As Puerto Rican actress Roselyn Sanchez's acting career continues to grow with Devious Maids, so is her 20-month-old daughter, which has presented her with an "intense" balancing act.

In January of last year, Sanchez welcomed her first child with husband Eric Winter, a daughter named Sabella Rose. A month later, the 40-year-old actress and singer landed the lead in Devious Maids.

"It's a lot of work," Sanchez told ET Canada at her photo shoot for Regard magazine. "It's so intense when you become a parent. You realize it's not about you anymore. It's about what this child needs and just trying to make the best individual possible to grow into this world. It's incredible."

Sanchez first became a Hollywood actress in 2001 as Jackie Chan's love interest in Rush Hour 2. A few years later she was cast as "Elena Delgado" on the fourth season of Without a Trace, where she remained until the 2009 series finale.

Having worked her way up the ladder in Hollywood after making her beginnings in her native Puerto Rico, Sanchez says she can relate to her Devious Maids character "Carmen Luna," who is trying to make it as a singer in the U.S.

"Every part is written so beautifully, but when I read the script and I saw Carmen, I was like...'I get her!' because I sing and I know what it is to leave your country and move to the States to be able to become a performer," Sanchez said.
