'AGT' Judges Can't Predict Show's Close Race

For a long time, the classic variety show was an extinct genre in America. Sure, there were singing competition shows, or dancing shows, but none of them really had the wide-ranging and crazy diversity that variety television once provided. And then came America's Got Talent.

Dancing, singing, comedy, juggling, magic, and a myriad of other acts that defy easy classification, are all on full display as Americans from around the country try to prove they have the talent required to be stars.

With the show now finishing its eighth season, with only 12 contestant left, the remaining episodes are going to be a very tight race.

ET caught up with the star-studded celebrity judging panel for a little behind-the-scenes chat about the show. The panel of judges includes long time AGT judge Howie Mandel, the incomparable Howard Stern, supermodel Heidi Klum, and performer and former Spice Girl, Mel B.

Howie Mandel praised the remaining 12 contestants, and argued that the competition is still anybody's game.
"In the history of America's Got Talent, [they are] the best talent in the history of this show," Mandel raved.

"He's right," Stern chimed in, "He really is. I'll tell you, I've been sort of thinking about this all week. It is so close this time around. Last year… we kind of had a feeling who would be the top two, or three. Anything can happen. The acts are all so talented, the level of talent is so high, that I think we're going to have tons of surprises. And no prediction is safe."
