Zombies are hotter than ever thanks to The Walking Dead, but The Returned -- a daring French series airing on the Sundance Channel -- paints a portrait of the undead that's unlike anything you've ever seen before.
Set in an idyllic French town, a seemingly random collection of people find themselves in a state of confusion as they attempt to return to their homes. What they don't know is that they've actually been dead for several years! The series chronicles their attempts at reintegration as well as the emotional, physical and social hurdles they face in doing so. Making matters worse, these returns coincide with a series of gruesome murders that bear a striking resemblance to a presumed-dead serial killer. Has this evil returned as well? That's one of the thousand thought-provoking questions The Returned will have you desperate to answer.
ETonline scored an exclusive clip from The Returned that spotlights how, unlike its cable comrades, this series milks tension from long, lingering moments that provide your mind a wide berth to run wild. Check the clip out above and then watch a trailer for this can't-miss new series!
The Returned premieres Thursday at 9 p.m. on Sundance Channel.
