As we all learned last year, chemistry between reality show judges can make or break an entire season. And while there was a lot of good to be had from American Idol season 12 (Candice Glover's vocal domination, Mariah Carey's glitter bomb, the "discovery" of Keith Urban as a judge), the ongoing feud between Carey and Nicki Minaj was an insurmountable object the show -- and the fans -- could never really move past.
So it's with a fresh(ish) slate Idol heads into season 13; Urban is the lone remnant from last year, while Jennifer Lopez is returning to her center seat and Harry Connick Jr. joins the panel. So how is their chemistry? In short, fan-freaking-tastic!
For a longer look at the three judges, and the talent you can expect to pour out of season 13, check out this just-released sneak peek that compiles auditions, and critiques, from Austin, Detroit and Salt Lake City!
American Idol will debut with a special two-night series premiere on January 15 and 16 at 8 p.m. on FOX.
