'Duck Dynasty' Star to Attend State of the Union
January 28, 2014
The CEO star of A&E's hit show Duck Dynasty, Willie Robertson, will be attending President Barack Obama's State of the Union address tonight at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
The 41-year-old Robertson -- who presides over his family's Louisiana-based Duck Commander business empire -- will be attending as a guest of his state's Republican Congressman Vance McAllister.
"Willie is thankful for this opportunity and honored to attend. I look forward to the two of us representing the Fifth District in DC this evening and bringing some diversity to our nation's capitol," McAllister said in a statement about his invitation to Robertson, who helped campaign for McAllister during last year's special election.
The ratings-grabbing Duck Dynasty was thrust into controversy late last year when Willie's father Phil, who also appears on the show, made anti-gay remarks during an interview with GQ magazine. A&E quickly distanced itself from Phil's controversial comments and initially suspended him from filming on the show, but eventually reversed course and resumed normal shooting.
