Will Minnie Driver Find Romance on 'About a Boy'?

By

Minnie Driver is tackling the TV genre as a quirky single mom whose life is slowly transformed in About a Boy, premiering tonight on NBC, and the Brit star explains how the TV adaptation is different from the hit movie of the same name -- and if there will be some onscreen romance with co-star David Walton anytime soon!

"People who love the book and the movie, you can love this too," Minnie tells ET. "Of course, it will be different. You've never seen these stories before, but the characters are a version of what Nick Horny created, and we've definitely paid homage to him. It does become something else. It evolves."

Based on the best-selling novel by Nick Hornby, About a Boy is directed by Jon Favreau and follows what happens when Will Freeman (played by Walton) -- single, unemployed and loving every minute living on the residuals of a hit song -- crosses paths with his new, next-door neighbor, the eccentric, needy Fiona (played by Driver) and her oddly charming 11-year-old son, Marcus (played by Benjamin Stockham), disrupting his perfect world, perhaps for the better.
