Remember Pa and Half Pint? Forty years after its debut, Little House on the Prairie remains one of the most beloved shows on TV. The show's pilot episode celebrates its four-decade anniversary this year with a newly restored Blu-ray and DVD, out Tuesday, and perhaps the most special feature among the bonuses is the original screen-test footage of a very young Melissa Gilbert, aka "Half Pint," and the show's star, Michael Landon. Inspired by the books series written by Laura Ingalls Wilder, Little House on the Prairie follows the dramatic, gripping adventures of a young pioneer family’s struggle to build a new life for themselves on the American frontier of the 1870s. Season one chronicles the arrival of Charles Ingalls (played by Landon) and his family to Walnut Grove, from the construction of their new home to their battles with the elements and a vicious blizzard.

On Blu-ray (plus Digital HD UltraViolet), DVD (plus Digital Ultraviolet) and Digital HD this Tuesday, the Little House On The Prairie – Season One Deluxe Remastered Edition includes all 24 original broadcast-length episodes of the premiere season, plus the 96-minute pilot movie. In addition to the screen test footage, special features include part one of a newly created six-part documentary that takes a historical look back at the acclaimed series.
