Neil Patrick Harris: I Turned Down the Letterman 'Late Show' Gig
Though it's the job plenty of actors and comedians would kill for, How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris revealed Wednesday that he actually turned down the chance to be the new host ofthe Late Show following David Letterman's retirement in 2015.
His reason?
He thought he'd "get bored" of the same nightly routine.

"I don't have any interest in doing 'monologue, commercial, sketch, guest, guest musical act, goodnight,'" he said to Howard Stern in a new interview.
Harris, 40, also revealed that he was asked to host The Late Late Show following Craig Ferguson's departure, but declined that position as well.
"It's still nightly. ... You're still coming up with the same content and now you're just getting bitter that no one's watching it," he joked.
Harris said that he met directly with CBS chairman and CEO Leslie Moonves about the gig.
"I was surprised that he pitched me that idea," he admitted. "I sat for a minute and thought about it."
The Late Show hosting gig eventually went to Comedy Central star Stephen Colbert in April.
