Following Brad Pitt's casting rumor, Zero Dark Thirty star Jessica Chastain has also been linked to the HBO miniseries, according to The Nerdist. This report comes after rumors that creator Nic Pizzolatto is seeking a female lead for the show, as opposed to the male-driven parts in season 1, which were helmed by Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

Though no actors have been confirmed just yet, Pizzolatto did tell the radio show To the Best of Our Knowledge (via Variety) that there will be three leads. "We're working with three leads. It takes place in California -- not Los Angeles, but some of the much lesser known venues of California -- and we're going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambiance of the place, much like we did in season 1."
