Tony Goldwyn is used to dealing with super scandalous storylines in his portrayal of President Fitzgerald Grant on the ABC political drama Scandal, and now he's playing another scandalous character -- this time one based on real-life headlines from the world of polygamy.
We've got a first-look at Goldwyn in the Lifetime original movie
Outlaw Prophet: Warren Jeffs, premiering Saturday, June 28 at 8 p.m.
"This caused us all such deep sadness and pain," Goldwyn says in a scene from the TV movie in which he plays polygamist leader Jeffs -- who is now serving life in prison after being convicted on several charges including the sexual abuse of a 12-year-old and a 15-year-old.
Goldwyn is also seen in the clip at one point looking toward the heavens while trying to rally his religious followers amid his vast legal problems. "I will grasp his hand, I will take all of your hands in mine, and we will rise up together in glory. I do this because I love you all."
