After comedian Brooks Wheelan announced on Monday that he had been "fired" from Saturday Night Live, it was revealed that Noel Wells and John Milhiser, also two first-year cast members, had also been let go from the show, according to The Los Angeles Times.
While NBC has not officially commented on SNL's decision to not renew the actor's contracts – the network doesn't comment on cast changes – news of the firings spread quickly.
ET caught up with comedians Gabriel Iglesias and Dane Cook, who were both attending separate premieres of their new films The Fluffy Movie and Planes: Fire And Rescue, and asked what they thought of the firings.
"It's a strange thing about comedy," said Cook, who has hosted SNL on two occasions. "Sometimes the trials, the things that we experience that see kind of the darkest, elevate you… I'm sure they will springboard to bigger and better things."
If Wheelan, Wells or Milhiser do go on to make it big, they would be in the good company of other fired-from-SNL success stories. Comedian Rob Riggle who was a cast member for one season from 2004-05, Obvious Child star Jenny Slate who was fired after one season in 2010, Damon Wayans was fired in the middle of an episode for improvising an entire sketch and even Robert Downey Jr. was a cast member in the notorious 1985-86 season.
