Does She Sound Like Whitney Houston? Hear the Artist That Will Provide Voice for Biopic

Fans of Whitney Houston will be happy to hear that Lifetime's upcoming biopic will feature the legendary singer's music but, there's one catch: the songs will not be Whitney's actual voice.

The songs will be sung by R&B singer Deborah Cox, E! News reports. Cox earned fame for her 1998 song Nobody's Supposed to Be Here, which was the number one single on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart for a record-breaking 14 weeks.

Lifetime reportedly is still working out all the music rights and clearances but says Cox will provide all the vocal tracks for the film.

The untitled Lifetime movie will be directed by Angela Bassett in her directorial debut and is said to focus on Houston's relationship with Bobby Brown. Former America's Next Top Model hopeful Yaya DaCosta will take on the role of the multi-Grammy winning aritst while Arlen Escarpeta will play the former New Edition singer.

The Houston family is reportedly not involved with the production and this film isn't the first to deal with the legalities of a late star's estate.

The upcoming Jimi Hendrix bio pic, Jimi: All Is By My Side starring Outkast's Andre 3000 as the legendary guitarist, hits theaters in September but won't feature Hendrix's actual music for the score per the late musician's estate.

Ownership of late R&B singer Aaliyah's estate, including music, has also been the hurdle for the Lifetime planned biopic. The family has spoke out against the project and earlier this month Disney darling Zendaya who was set to play the star dropped out of the film.
