Someone pass us an inhaler.

Showtime has just released a first look trailer for the Homeland's highly anticipated fourth season, and after inhaling the jam-packed promo, we're desperately trying to catch our breath.

For those of you who are currently going through Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) cry-face withdrawals, rest easy because the premium cable network also revealed that Homeland's forth season will kick-off, Sunday, Oct. 5 with an explosive premiere.

The new season picks up in Pakistan, and the first look footage above shows Carrie back in the field and doing what she does best: Telling people to "get the f—k out of her face", drinking plenty of wine and popping pills. Oh, Carrie—we've missed you.

Executive producer Alex Gansa revealed that although Carrie is in a place of mourning due to the shocking death of Dana Brody (Damian Lewis), her child has really helped to open her up and re-center her focus.

"I think she's got a lot of grieving to do," Gansa said to a room full of reporters at the TCA press tour Friday afternoon. "That baby exists for her as a marker emotionally. The place she is now is where you cannot have dependents, so she was forced to leave the child at home. … I think emotionally she has stabilized and the mental illness we have dealt with, she has now dealt with."

But could Brody return to Homeland in some way, shape or form this season? "It was a painful and sad loss for Homeland," he said, Gansa said. "This was a character people loved to hate and hated to love. It's someone who we miss on set every day. And I can say that Dana Brody will not be back for season four."
