For six seasons, NCIS: Los Angeles has proven to be one of the most dynamic ensembles currently on TV. The cast has found the perfect balance between high stakes/action-packed drama and comedy. This was made clear when stars Renee Felice Smith (Nell) and Barrett Foa (Eric) stopped by ETonline for a lively chat about tonight's upcoming episode.

This week Nell finds herself dealing with the aftermath of having to shoot someone for the first time out in the field.

"Our psychologist is coming back to assess her," Renee says of her character's arc. "To see if she is sound to return to the workplace or even if she wants to return to the workplace." She adds, "She's not so sure if this is the right path for her."

As for what we can expect from Eric in the coming episodes, Barrett explains that he is in for his own share of intense moments.

"There's needles of poison, there's two guns, poisonous plants," he teases. "The whole place gets locked down and everyone is stuck inside. It's really intense... There is a mole among us and we have to figure out who it is."

As if that isn't enough, Nell and Eric's relationship is also put to the test later this season.

"We actually have a little quarrel coming up," Renee reveals. "Mr. [Eric] Beale raises his voice to one Miss Nell and she's not having it."

Time will tell how this bodes for the "will they or won't they" dynamic of Neric's relationship. One thing that is clear is the actors' chemistry both on and off the set.

"We're just a big family," Renee admits. "We goof around, we goof off together, we call each other out on our nonsense.." Barrett agrees, saying, "It's a sign of trust and a sign of closeness."
