The Good Wife may be hibernating this December, but that doesn't mean the series' casting scoop is snoozing as well.

A fresh face will be joining the hit CBS drama in 2015, and he's sure to shake things up in Alicia's (Julianna Margulies) quest for State's Attorney.

Legendary actor Ed Asner, known for his roles on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Up, Lou Grant, and many more pop culture staples, has been tapped to join the smash series in an upcoming episode, ETonline exclusively reports.

The 85-year-old will play Guy Redmayne, a mega-donor to Democratic causes, who turns out to be, well for lack of a better word… disgusting. (This is quite a character leap considering Asner consistently graces our TV screens in the holiday season as Santa Clause on Elf!)

The exact date of Asner's Good Wife debut is to be determined, but we know one thing for sure: it's definitely an appearance that you don’t want to miss.

The Good Wife returns Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015 at 9 p.m. on CBS.
