The country crooner and coach of 'The Voice' will try his hand at sketch comedy when he hosts 'SNL' later this month.

Season 40 of
Saturday Night Live is returning from winter break with back-to-back new episodes!

As announced in December, Kevin Hart is set to host SNL's first episode of 2015 on Jan. 17. However, fans of The Voice will be excited to learn that country star Blake Shelton will be pulling double duty as the host and musical guest the following week in his SNL debut.

However, he isn't the first coach from The Voice to appear on the long-running sketch show. In fact, he's the only one who hasn't.

Christina Aguilera served as a musical guest three times, and even hosted in 2004. When she hosted, future Voice co-star Adam Levine was the musical guest.

Levine himself hosted in 2013, and has appeared as a musical guest and in several amazing sketches over the years.

Fellow Voice coaches Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams have also performed on the show, as well as fellow coaches Usher, Shakira and Cee Lo Green.

Blake has shown that he has what it takes to be funny. In September, he and Gwen Stefani faced off against Jimmy Fallon in a lip-sync battle on The Tonight Show, and his hilariously combative friendship with Adam Levine has always been one of the highlights of The Voice.

Hopefully, he can bring that country crooner charisma to the SNL stage when he makes his debut.
