Well, this is very un-Duggar.
19 Kids and Counting
star Amy Duggar, cousin of the namesake 19 Duggar siblings, made a confession on her Instagram
Monday, admitting that she was born out of wedlock.
"The tabloids are telling the truth, my mom and dad did have me out of wedlock," Duggar wrote on a picture with her parents. "Just because we are Christians doesn't make us perfect, it just makes us forgiven."
Duggar shared the news as part of a "#prolife" post, seemingly worried about the scrutiny this confession might bring, given her ties to the conservative Christian megafamily.
"Just because I share the Duggar name doesn't mean my life is perfect!" she wrote. "God knew my uncle would have a hit show and that somehow I would be apart of it. He knew my parents' story would be told."
The 28-year-old aspiring country singer has appeared on several episodes of the Duggar's TLC reality hit and is similarly outspoken about her pro-life beliefs.
"I'm extremely grateful to my mom for choosing to give me life," she said. "I'm sure she was scared, young, ridiculed, and felt ashamed. God's grace covered it though! She's beautiful inside and out. I'm also grateful that I have such an awesome relationship with my dad! Seriously he's the greatest!"
The Duggar family has always been very outspoken when it comes to the rules of dating (or courtship, as they prefer to call it) -- there is no hand-holding until they are engaged and couple’s do not kiss until they are wed. See how Duggar daughter Jessa caused a social media stir after she posted a kiss pic with her husband in the video below.
