America’s Next Bearded Lady?

In a RuPaul’s Drag Race first, the queens are tasked with donning beards on the runway. A play on the bearded lady -- a style of drag made popular by Eurovision Song Contest 2014 winner Conchita Wurst -- the challenge is an unexpected move for the show that has increasingly become about serving fish (aka looking as feminine as possible).

While the challenge is a bold move that surely will get fans talking, it’s not the first time a beard has walked the runway. During season six, Milk caused a stir when she sported silver, wizardly facial hair. (Though, the drag queen also donned a pregnancy belly and a Pinocchio nose.) “It’s also about being remembered,” Milk told Out.com about the eccentric looks he wore on the show.

There’s no doubt that fans will not forget this challenge anytime soon. The episode is something of a Shakespearean feat with the queens getting their “Globe Theatre acting” on and some using the playwright to inspire their final looks.
