The Good Wife has found its new investigator, and he’s a familiar face!

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who won fans over in (often tragic) roles on Weeds, Grey's Anatomy and Supernatural, will join the CBS legal drama for its seventh season this fall.

Morgan will play Alex, a "calm, experienced hourly investigator" hired by Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies).

"We've loved and admired Jeffrey Dean Morgan for years, and we were thrilled to hear that Julianna did too, so it was a no-brainer to ask him to join our troupe," Good Wife executive producers Robert and Michelle King said of the casting choice.

The role keeps Morgan in the CBS family for the foreseeable future, as he is currently starring opposite Halle Berry on Extant.
