Even President Obama Doesn't Want Jon Stewart to Retire: 'I Can't Believe That You're Leaving Before Me'

Add President Obama's name to the long list of people who aren't looking forward to Jon Stewart's departure from The Daily Showin a few weeks.

The president sat across the desk from Stewart on Tuesday for his final appearance on the late-night talk show where the two discussed Obama's legacy in office, the things he hopes to still accomplish, and the sad fact that Stewart's last episode is fast approaching.

"I can't believe that you're leaving before me!" Obama said, laughing. "In fact, I'm issuing a new executive order that Jon Stewart cannot leave the show!"

Obama's proclamation elicited raucous cheers from the Daily Show audience, although Obama quipped, "It's being challenged in the courts."

Stewart reminded Obama that he was running out of time in office as well, joking, "You don't have that much time to take away Americans' guns, declare martial law and put hardworking Americans in FEMA camps. If you're gonna do that, you better get started."

Stewart announced earlier this year that his last episode would be Aug. 6, after which comedian and Daily Show correspondent Trevor Noah will be taking over as the new host. For more on Stewart's successor, check out the video below.
