EXCLUSIVE: Your First Look at Jennifer Lopez and Ray Liotta in NBC's New Cop Drama 'Shades of Blue'

NBC

The new series debuts Jan. 7.

Jennifer Lopez
is putting on the badge!

The American Idol judge will be making her badass debut on NBC’s anticipated midseason drama Shades of Blue, and only ETonline has your exclusive first look.

The 46-year-old entertainer plays NYPD Detective and single mother Harlee Santos, who gets swept up in a world of corruption, dirty cops and crime, until the FBI forces her to turn on the group of corrupt cops she’s a part of. Will she choose to do the right thing or cover up for her corrupt colleagues?

In ETonline’s sneak peek of the premiere, Lopez’s co-star Ray Liotta, who plays Lieutenant Matt Wozniak, head of the corrupt cops, is nervous that Harlee will waver after they meet with internal affairs.

“Tell me I didn’t see you blink!” the worried lieutenant tells Harlee following their meeting. “You want to save a pup from drowning, I appreciate the instinct. I admire it. … Never risk a hole in my boat unless you’re positive you can plug it.”

When Harlee interjects and insists that she’s holding firm, Matt lays down the law.

“Harlee, don’t get wobbly. One slip at the wrong time and we all go tumbling down -- and I don’t tumble well,” he warns.

Shades of Blue
will also feature Lopez’s real-life boyfriend Casper Smart, who was spotted filming a guest spot in November.

ET reported that the 28-year-old choreographer will play a bad guy, but won’t be appearing in any scenes with Lopez. Instead, he’ll be sharing the screen with Liotta.

Shades of Blue
premieres Thursday, Jan. 7 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
