Comedy Central's next roast victim, Rob Lowe, has been a huge fan of the comic tradition, but it's a whole lot different when you're the one in the hot seat.

"Am I stupid to have said yes to it?" Lowe joked with ET's Nischelle Turner. "It's a mistake, right?"

ET caught up with the 52-year-old actor as he shot the new promo for the Comedy Central special, hosted by David Spade.

"I love those roasts," Lowe said, explaining why he agreed to be the roastee. "They make me laugh. Look, maybe there's something wrong with me, but the meaner they are, the more I like it, and the people who can take it, are my heroes."

While Lowe laughed along as previous roasts took aim at the likes of Justin Bieber, Donald Trump and his good friend, Charlie Sheen, the How to Be a Latin Lover star admitted his good-natured attitude towards the event hasn't faced a real test. Yet.

"It's easy for me to say when it's about someone else," Lowe pointed out.

After the roast, Lowe will join the CBS medical drama, Code Black, full-time as a series regular, which takes him out of the running for the open spot beside Kelly Ripa on Live! With Kelly.

"Listen, it was all very flattering talk that was buzzing around, but I'm still loving acting," Lowe said. "I'm still an actor."

The Comedy Central Roast of Rob Lowe films in Los Angeles on Aug. 27 and airs Sept. 5 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
