Benoist, 27, couldn't have been happier to have the TV legend on set -- and Carter was equally enthusiastic! The Wonder Woman star wasted no time expressing her excitement on Twitter.

"Having so much fun filming Supergirl on The CW with Melissa Benoist!" she tweeted on Friday. "I'm excited!"

Carter, 64, will be playing the president of the United States on Supergirl, appearing in multiple episodes of the upcoming sophomore season. She'll make her debut in episode three.

The series will be adding on several new characters for the upcoming season, including Tyler Hoechlin as Superman.

While the 28-year-old actor is just as excited as Carter to join the cast, he's well aware of the pressure to do right by the beloved character.

"It's such an iconic character, so to see yourself in it, it's kind of surreal," he told ET in June. "I'm not trying to actively make it like or unlike any of the other representations of him. Just trying to do it specific to what I find interesting about the character."

"It's going to be fun," he added.
