'Law & Order: SVU' Pushes Controversial Donald Trump-Inspired Episode to Air After the Election
NBC has decided to hold off on airing the Donald Trump-inspired episode of Law & Order: SVU until after the 2016 presidential election, according to Variety.
The episode, title “Unstoppable,” stars Gary Cole as a Trump-esque character whose political campaign “goes haywire when several women go public with damaging accusations," the network confirmed to ET last week.
Now, Variety reports that NBC decided to push the episode “amid the extraordinary atmosphere of at least four women coming forward with stories of groping or sexual assault against the Republican nominee for president.” Trump has denied all claims of sexual assault or misconduct.
NBC has found themselves in the midst of several Trump-related controversies lately, first when a 2005 audio recording surfaced of the GOP nominee making lewd statements about women to then-Access Hollywood anchor Billy Bush.
“You know I'm automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them,” Trump can be heard saying in the recording. “It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait."
He continues, "And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything."
Trump has repeatedly dismissed the statements made in the recording as “locker room talk,” though many fans of another NBC program, Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice, quickly recalled that the Republican nominee fired professional wrestler Maria Kanellis from the third season of his reality competition show for what he called “locker room” language.
