'Mad Men' Stimulates 1960s Magazine Issue

In light of the Mad Men's upcoming return, Newsweek is planning a 1960s inspired by the critically acclaimed drama.

The idea was conceived when Newsweek editor Tina Brown was talking to Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner.

"Newsweek was very much on the cultural forefront at the time of the show," Brown said. "It covered the events that are so much of the background for the show's drama ... So it seemed like a wonderful ... to make the magazine an homage to the period."

Due to the progression of society since the "Mad Men" era, Newsweek will have a few limitations in restoring historical accuracy. For example, tobacco ads -- which were rampant in the 1960s -- are very rare in magazines today and are not accepted anymore by Newsweek.

The Mad Men-themed issue will be dated March 19 and will include a cover story about the Emmy-winning show as well as an article on the role of advertising in U.S. culture.

Mad Men's fifth season will premiere on March 25.
