In the clip, Fire’s Lieutenant Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) runs into P.D.’s Detective Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush), with whom he’s had history, at a local Chicago restaurant.

“Hey…,” Lindsay says once she sees Severide, who takes a beat before responding, “Hey… it’s been a while.”

The two awkwardly (and somewhat successfully) attempt to make small talk, with Lindsay referencing Severide’s recent good deed -- donating bone marrow to a woman dying of leukemia.

“We all gotta catch up, you know?” Lindsay offers, suggesting a double date. “Me and Jay (Jesse Lee Sofer), you and Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo)…”

“Yeah… sure,” Severide says with a look of amusement and bewilderment. It’ll be the last moment of bliss for Severide, who will soon rely on Lindsay to help him out of a mess when he is suspected of a hit and run.

The Chicago Fire/Chicago P.D. crossover airs Tuesday, Jan. 3 from 9-11 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
