The Lyon family isn’t going anywhere.

Empire has been renewed for a fourth season, Fox announced Wednesday at the Television Critics Association press day. The renewal is for 18 episodes.

“It stayed strong,” Gary Newman, chairman and CEO of Fox Television Group, told reporters, referencing Empire’s fall run of episodes, noting that it still remains “broadcast’s top drama.”

In December, ET spoke with executive producer Sanaa Hamri following the Empire fall finale, which saw Jamal (Jussie Smollett) heading to rehab, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) discovering a deep-seeded secret in Angelo’s (Taye Diggs) past and Andre (Trai Byers) revealing his deadly plan to kill Lucious (Terrence Howard).

“He’s extremely calculated and smart, so I fear for Lucious’ life because I know that Andre is going to follow through,” Hamri said of Andre’s fatal plan. “It makes sense that he wants to kill Lucious and he’s going to do whatever he can to achieve that goal.”

Empire returns for the second half of its third season in Wednesday, March 22 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
