The X-Men are headed to the small screen.
Fox confirmed on Tuesday that the network has ordered an X-Men-based drama pilot from Burn Notice creator Matt Nix.
The untitled superhero-themed drama will focus on two seemingly ordinary parents who come to find out that their children are imbued with mutant abilities and superpowers.
Hunted by hostile government agents, the family is forced to go on the lam and team up with a clandestine, underground band of fellow mutants fighting to survive the threat of an authoritarian government.
Producer Lauren Shuler Donner, director Bryan Singer, writer/producer Simon Kinberg, producer Jim Chory and comic book writer Jeph Loeb -- who have all worked on films in the X-Men franchise -- will serve as executive producers on the hotly anticipated pilot.
The last film in the blockbuster franchise, X-Men: Apocalypse, was released in theaters in May 2016.
