What’s life going to be like for Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) now that he’s a free man on Suits?

Things got off to a rocky start for the former lawyer, still acclimating to his new reality after being behind bars and forced to move on from the law. But at least one relationship is still intact: his romance with fiancée Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle), who received a stellar offer to stay put at Specter Litt.

In ET’s exclusive sneak peek of Wednesday’s episode, titled “The Painting,” Mike surprises Rachel with his presence in the kitchen instead of being at the school he was supposed to be teaching at following his prison stint.

When Mike tells Rachel why he’s unemployed, he doesn’t seem so broken up about it. In fact, he’s embracing his new freedom.

“What are you going to do?” Rachel asks Mike, who answers with a smile: “I’m going to enjoy the day as a free man, and then tomorrow, I’m going to start all over again.”

What a healthy perspective, Mike!

Last March, Adams spoke to ET about Mike being forced to reassess his future.

“What Mike's learned -- whether it's law or something else -- his north star is helping people,” the actor said at the time. “Whatever he does is going to be about figuring out a way to be of service to other people, people who cannot be spoken for and there are a lot of ways to do that. It'll be interesting to see how that relates to the rest of the show ... and how he reintegrates with these other characters, who are still firmly planted in the [law] world.”

Suits
