EXCLUSIVE: Taryn Manning Fulfills Rock-n-Roll Fantasy by Performing With Def Leppard's Phil Collen

While most fans know Taryn Manning for her acclaimed portrayal
of Tiffany “Pennsatucky” Doggett on Orange
Is the New Black
, the actress is also quite an impressive singer -- a talent
she displays on an all-new episode of Comedy Central’s The Comedy Jam. And ET has your first look as Manning takes the
stage with Def Leppard’s Phil Collen to perform “Pour Some Sugar on Me.”

The eight-episode show, which first premiered on March 22,
features celebrities dishing on their favorite memories of iconic songs and
then later reliving them on stage with a live performance. For Manning, it’s
channeling a longtime rock-n-roll fantasy that sees the actress trading
Pennsatucky’s wavy brown locks for some punk-inspired pink hair.

“It's just temporary,” Manning revealed to ET backstage
after taping the episode. Having just finished filming season five of OITNB, which returns to Netflix on June
9
, the actress just wanted to change things up. “I had to wear a brown wig and
I was like, ‘Get me out of that thing.’ I wanted to redo my hair.”

While the hair is a different look, Manning’s ability to
command the stage should come as no surprise since she’s also landed on the
charts as a musician. Most notably, Manning and her brother, Kellin, formed
the band Boomkat, releasing their debut album, Boomkatalog. One, in 2003. The group’s first single, “The
Wreckoning,” even reached No. 1 on Billboard’s
Dance Club Songs chart.

Although the band never became a runaway hit, Boomkat’s
music was featured in several movies and the group even released a second album
via the independent label, Little Vanilla Records.

However, Manning shut down any promise of new music from her
and her brother when she caught up with ET last year. “My brother is like my second half," she said at the time. "You know,
he’s everything to me but we had to part ways.”

“I still do music and I have music coming out, but nothing
ever as good as what me and my brother did together,” Manning said, referring
to her solo career, which has featured several singles, including 2011’s “Turn
It Up,” which landed at No. 1 on the Dance Club Songs charts.

However, Manning still seemed hopeful about her new music,
promising a mix of dance and alternative pop. “I think it’s going to do well
once I freaking put it out,” she said of the 130 songs she’s recorded, joking
that all will be released on one album. “It’s not for the ADD.”

In the meantime, catch Manning on The Comedy Jam, which airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
