EXCLUSIVE: First Look at Jessica Biel's New Summer Series 'The Sinner'

is heading back to TV!

The 35-year-old actress returns to the small screen with The Sinner, and only ET has your exclusive first look at new images from USA Network's upcoming crime thriller.

In the eight-episode limited series, based on the 2007 Petra Hammesfahr novel of the same name, a young mother (Biel), who commits a startling act of violence and has no idea why while on a day trip with her husband (Christopher Abbott) and son.

When an investigator (Bill Pullman) finds himself obsessed with uncovering the woman's buried motive, together they travel a journey into the depths of her psyche and the violent secrets hidden in her past.

In January, back when the series was picked up, Biel spoke about her hopes for the anthology series, including focusing on storytelling from the female perspective.

"We strive to tell humanistic and emotionally moving stories; especially ones that put women at the epicenter. I have been lucky, as both actor and producer, to work with our immensely talented writer/creator Derek Simonds and can’t wait to see what the collaboration brings throughout the series," she said at the time,

The first episode will be screened at the Tribeca Film Festival on Tuesday at 6:15 p.m. ET at the SVA Theater, with a discussion with Biel, Pullman, Abbott, Simonds and pilot director Antonio Campos following the screening.


The Sinner
premieres Wednesday, Aug. 2 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on USA Network.
