The comic book icon lent his formidable presence to the latest trailer for Netflix's hotly anticipated Marvel superhero series.

Marvel fans are already excited for Netflix's upcoming superhero team-up, The Defenders, but with their latest trailer, the show is building the anticipation even more, with some help from Stan Lee.

The iconic comic book creator
lends his reassuring presence to the new international trailer, which gives us a look at the ragtag collection of street-level crime fighters, who come together to form the show's eponymous vigilante group.

Lee both narrates and stars in the teaser, and we follow the 94-year-old comic book legend as he coasts through the streets of New York City in the back of a towncar, introducing viewers to the thematic importance of each of The Defenders.

"Heroes show us we don't need to be perfect to do what's right," Lee shares via voice-over. "It's not about living without fear, but facing injustice. It's not about being powerful, but finding your calling when you least expect it. They show us it’s okay to be vulnerable no matter how tough you are. Because even though they're heroes, they’re still human."

Amid Lee's late-night trip through the most dangerous neighborhood in New York, we get glimpses of our heroes -- Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Danny Rand/Iron Fist (Finn Jones) -- beating street thugs to a bloody pulp.

While details about the show's plot have largely remained shrouded in mystery, a previous promo gave fans a glimpse at a seemingly-vampiric Elektra (Elodie Yung) who has been resurrected after her death in season two of Daredevil, and the enigmatic -- but clearly villainous -- Alexandra (Sigourney Weaver).

Marvel's The Defenders
hits Netflix on August 18.

ET caught up with Colter last year, and the Luke Cage star opened up about what he's looking forward to from The Defenders.

"I want to see how it unfolds," Coulter said. "I want to see how our relationships are set up. I mean, me and Jessica left in a situation [where] we’re kind of rocky. I haven’t met Iron Fist, Danny Rand, yet. I haven’t met Daredevil on screen. It’s going to be nice to see how they unfold [everything]." Check out the video below to hear more.
