The 'Late Late Show' host says 'Carpool Karaoke: The Series' will 'adhere to whatever wishes' the late singer's family have regarding the episode.
Days before he died, Chester Bennington and his Linkin Park bandmates filmed an episode of Carpool Karaoke: The Series for Apple Music.
The band reportedly filmed the sketch on July 14, as they prepared to kick off their One More Light World Tour, and were joined by comic Ken Jeong. On July 20, Bennington was found dead of an apparent suicide at his residence in Palos Verdes Estates, California.
Late Late Show host James Corden -- who serves as an executive producer on the series, which is based on the popular recurring segment on his late night talk show -- spoke with the Associated Press on Tuesday, where he said that Bennington's family will be consulted about the future of the episode.
"We will approach it in whichever manner his family or the people that were involved in that episode, however they would like it to be handled," Corden said of the episode, which was originally set to air in October. "We will navigate it as delicately as possible and just adhere to whatever wishes they would want because I don’t think there’s any other way we could deal with it, really."
"It's completely up to them and that's a conversation we haven't even thought about having right now," Corden said, adding that the singer's untimely death was "a tragedy."
Eric Pankowski, the showrunner for Carpool Karaoke: The Series, reiterated Corden's sentiments in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, where he said, "We’ve been in conversations with the band and the family, and all the representatives of the band. We’re going to work with them to find the best and most respectful way forward on the episode."

Bennington's widow, Talinda Bennington, took to Twitter on Tuesday to share her appreciation for Corden and the show's consideration in this delicate manor.
ET recently caught up with Corden at a party celebrating the launch of the new series, where he opened up about who has been his favorite Carpool Karaoke passenger since the popular segment first aired in March 2015.
"I mean, it's a bit like picking your children, you know what I mean?" he joked. "But in terms of the one I've enjoyed doing the most, I think it was probably Bruno [Mars]."
"Like, I really, I got a bit depressed afterwards," he continued. "Because I'd been looking forward to it for so long and I'm such a fan. When we were done, I was like, 'Oh. I'm not gonna get to do that again,' you know, and so that was incredible."
