Sheldon and Amy received one sweet wedding gift.

The Big Bang Theory  had planned to pay tribute to the late Stephen Hawking on Thursday's season 11 finale, but unfortunately it didn't make it to air.

The sweet scene -- which was cut from this week's episode for time, but posted on the show's Facebook page on Friday -- shows Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) receiving a wedding gift from Hawking before his death.

The two receive a pocket watch from the legendary physicist -- but not just any timepiece. In the scene, Hawking had the watch engraved on the back.

"If it's super asymmetry, I’m gonna be so mad,” Sheldon quips before reading the real message. “Sheldon, I’m so glad you finally married Amy. It’s about time. Ha ha ha, love, Stephen.”

The scene concludes with The Big Bang Theory cast sending one final message to Hawking. "To one of the greatest minds in the universe and dear member of our family. We will miss you deeply," they say. "With love, from everyone in The Big Bang Theory family."

Hawking, who died on March 14 at the age of 76, appeared on multiple episodes of The Big Bang Theory.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on Friday, the comedy's showrunner, Steve Holland, explained that they "wanted to do something special to honor him," despite already shooting the next three episodes. "It’s hard for us to be super timely because we shoot ahead of our airdates, so this seemed like a really nice opportunity," he said.

The cast was quick to express their condolences and share sweet memories after Hawking's death in March. See more in the video below.
