The ‘Real Housewives of New York City’ star opens up about her emotional viewing of ‘A Star Is Born’ in ET’s exclusive first look.

Bethenny Frankel might be off the (emotional) deep end.

The Real Housewives of New York City star apparently had a bit of a breakdown after seeing A Star Is Born, starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. In ET’s exclusive sneak peek at this week’s all-new RHONY, Bethenny recounts her emotional movie-going experience to co-star Dorinda Medley when she arrives at Dorinda’s home in the Berkshires. Warning, there are some A Star Is Born spoilers ahead.

“Last night, I went to see A Star Is Born,” she starts. “You don’t understand, at the end -- I didn’t know it was about pill addiction. I didn’t know that, like… the whole thing. It killed me. The guy, he loved her so much. He died for her.”

This is when Bethenny starts to tear up, as she tells Dorinda she saw a parallel between Jackson (Bradley Cooper) and Ally (Lady Gaga) and herself and her late boyfriend/sort-of fiance, Dennis Shields. Dennis died in August 2018 from a suspected overdose.

“I thought to myself, I thought back to all the texts I sent him that week, though, when I said, ‘Look, I can’t do this anymore,’” Bethenny recalls. “And he said, ‘Babe, it’s so rough. I miss you. I love you.’ And then I…”

Bethenny starts full-on crying at this point, admitting to Dorinda that she cried “for, like, an hour last night.”

“I was freaking out,” she says. “I sat in the movie theater by myself for an hour!”

Watch the emotional exchange here:

Dorinda has Bethenny sit down, reassuring her that she can’t live in the “what ifs” of her relationship with Dennis. She tells her pal, “You were never going to move on in a healthy relationship,” to which Bethenny agrees.

“This was his journey, period,” Dorinda, a widow, tells Bethenny. “Everything has a beginning, middle and an end, and it’s not for you to determine. You, now, live your best life with your daughter. And you can always call me, I know you’re not ready, but I’ve been through a similar thing and I get it. The lonely, but growing thing.”

“Going to Boston and seeing A Star Is Born could be one of the most stupid things I’ve done in my life,” Bethenny admits in a confessional.

Then, the conversation turns to what Bethenny missed in the Berkshires while she was in Boston seeing the movie. Namely, Luann de Lesseps having a bit of a freakout over her room assignment at Dorinda’s estate. Dorinda gave Bethenny what Lu and the other women viewed as “the best room,” her daughter, Hannah Lynch’s, bedroom, while Luann got the “fish room.” The walls of said “fish room” are covered in taxidermied (or maybe they’re plastic?) marine life, which apparently give Luann a bad feeling.

The last time she stayed in the room was before she was sober, which according to Luann is a trigger. Luann told Dorinda she deserves Bethenny’s room over Bethenny, because she was there first, which doesn’t exactly sit well with Bethenny. Reminder, Bethenny was integral in getting Luann the help she needed to get sober. She asks Dorinda, “She’s pulling the sober card?”

“Why is Luann talking behind my back at all, saying anything negative thing about me whatsoever in any capacity at all, in any iteration whatsoever?” Bethenny goes on to ask Dorinda. “She should be saying, ‘You’re the Lord Jesus Christ.’ And I don’t even know if I believe in that. I’m not Catholic.”

“I really can’t wrap my head around that,” Bethenny adds in a confessional. “We went through this intervention together, and I didn’t do what I did for her, because I feel that she owes me. But saying anything negative or anything catty? Zero bandwidth for that.”

Tune into The Real Housewives of New York City on Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET to see how things play out from here.
