But after considerable time dating under the paparazzi radar, their unofficially confirmed fling reportedly ended in January, then was on -- and off again -- after Owen reportedly didn't visit Kate while she was filming her new movie 'Fool's Gold' in Australia opposite MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY.
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE & CAMERON DIAZ: After four years of dating, the pair called it quits and released a joint statement in January, saying, "We have, in fact, ended our romantic relationship, and have done so mutually and as friends, with continued love and respect for one another." The proof in the pudding was on the 'Shrek the Third' green carpet in May, when Cameron and Justin publicly hugged and kissed in between their respective interviews.
DREW BARRYMORE & FABRIZIO MORETTI: Drew had been married twice before, to comedian TOM GREEN and bar owner JEREMY THOMAS, and after five years together with Moretti, the drummer for THE STROKES -- her longest relationship so far -- things looked promising. But the couple couldn't prolong the magic and broke up in January. Drew reportedly said Fabrizio wasn't worldly enough, while he reportedly blamed her Hollywood lifestyle for the split.
MARILYN MANSON & DITA VON TEESE: The shock-rocker and the burlesque star began dating in 2001 and married in December of 2005 in a non-denominational ceremony in Ireland. But a year later, the union went sour, with Von Teese filing for divorce on December 29, 2006 -- and Manson reportedly unaware that his wife had even moved out of their home. Several published reports suggest that alleged drug abuse and Manson's relationship with then-19-year-old EVAN RACHEL WOOD led Von Teese to file.
ANNE HECHE & COLEY LAFFOON: There must be something about January; that month also found Anne leaving Coley for her "Men in Trees" co-star JAMES TUPPER. Heche's rep confirmed to ET in a statement that the pair split, saying they "decided to separate after five years of marriage. They have requested that they be allowed their privacy at this time." A spokesperson for Tupper also confirmed that the hunky star and his wife split in November '06. In May, Heche and Laffoon filed for divorce, beginning a nasty custody battle in which Laffoon alleged Heche to be "bizarre and delusional," and Heche alleged Laffoon made "numerous false allegations about his own parenting skills and fitness as well as mine."
RYAN GOSLING & RACHEL McADAMS: The romantic 'Notebook' co-stars reportedly began dating after that popular film wrapped, and they kept their relationship under the radar as best as they could. They dated for three years and reportedly talked marriage, but in mid-2007, they called it quits. In the November issue of "GQ," Gosling said, "['The Notebook'] introduced me to one of the great loves of my life," but when they broke up, "The only thing I remember is we both went down swingin' and we called it a draw."
HEATH LEDGER & MICHELLE WILLIAMS: The new 'Dark Knight' Joker and his former "Dawson's Creek" girlfriend started dating during the filming of 'Brokeback Mountain' and share a two-year-old daughter together named MATILDA. But after three years together, the couple split up in September. The 'Brokeback' co-stars reportedly tried to work through their difficulties, but in the end decided to separate.
HUGH GRANT & JEMIMA KHAN: Hugh ended his relationship with his girlfriend of approximately three years just in time for Valentine's Day, with no indication that it would happen. Just before the split, the 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' star was seen out in public with Jemima at both the London and L.A. premieres of his romantic comedy with Drew Barrymore, 'Music & Lyrics,' and even praised her on "The View" while promoting the film. DERMOT MULRONEY & CATHERINE KEENER: After 16 years of matrimony, 'My Best Friend's Wedding' star Dermot filed for divorce from his 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin' and 'Being John Malkovich' star wife on June 8. The couple, who share a young son, CLYDE, separated over two years previous to the filing. In divorce papers obtained by ET, the reason for the divorce filing was cited as the ever-popular "irreconcilable differences," and Dermot asked for joint custody of their son.
DYLAN McDERMOTT & SHIVA ROSE: The actor whose name is perhaps most often confused with Dermot Mulroney's -- and vice versa -- Dylan McDermott separated from his actress wife after nearly 12 years of marriage in September. 'The Practice' star and Shiva have two daughters, 11-year-old COLETTE and 2-year-old CHARLOTTE. .
