10) 'WILD HOGS'

Audiences went, well, hog wild for this road comedy starring JOHN TRAVOLTA, WILLIAM H. MACY, TIM ALLEN and MARTIN LAWRENCE as a group of middle-aged friends who take off on a motorcycle trip. The movie revved up the box office with $168 million in ticket sales.

9) 'THE SIMPSONS MOVIE'

Even after 17 years on the boob tube, fans of "The Simpsons" clearly showed they haven't tired of Bart's pranks, Lisa's wisdom, Maggie's pacifier-sucking, Marge's good-natured nags and Homer's daffy-yet-lovable ways. When the famous animated family finally made its way into theaters back in July, it made $182 million worth of D'oh!

8) 'RATATOUILLE'

Featuring the vocal talents of BRAD GARRETT, PATTON OSWALT, PETER O'TOOLE and JANEANE GAROFALO, this latest animated offering from Pixar ('Cars,' 'Finding Nemo'), about a rat who dreams of becoming the greatest chef in Paris, cooked up a mouth-watering $204 million.

7) '300'

The legendary Battle of Thermopylae, in which 300 Spartans fought to the death against the entire Persian army, was brought to stylish life in this epic film based on the action-packed graphic novel by FRANK MILLER. By combining live-action footage with virtual backgrounds, the result was a stunning work of visual art that proved victorious with $211 million.

6) 'THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM'

In the third installment of the highly popular, globetrotting action franchise, MATT DAMON reprised his role as spy-on-the-run Jason Bourne and made off with an impressive $226 million.

5) 'HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX'

Sparks flew in 'Order of the Phoenix' as Hogwarts' beloved junior wizards -- Harry, Ron and Hermione -- took on the evil Lord Voldemort and his maniacal followers in full-scale, wand-to-wand combat. The exciting fifth chapter in the 'Potter' series cast its spell at the box office and magically turned 'Phoenix' into, appropriately, the fifth biggest movie of the year with $291 million.

4) 'PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD'S END'

It may have the word "end" in its title, but this 'Pirates' movie certainly got off to a great start when it captured the fourth biggest three-day-weekend opening ever, and took the record for Memorial Day weekend. So have we really seen the last of Captain Jack Sparrow and company? Well, with $309 million worth of box office booty for 'At World's End,' it certainly wouldn't surprise anyone if JOHNNY DEPP, KEIRA KNIGHTLEY and ORLANDO BLOOM decided to walk the plank once more.

3) 'TRANSFORMERS'

Earth became a battlefield of warring robots from another galaxy in this live-action movie based on the popular TV toys of the '80s. Brought to the big-screen by 'Armageddon' maestro MICHAEL BAY and executive producer STEVEN SPIELBERG, 'Transformers' stayed true to its robotic roots by bringing back the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons, and, in the process, scored an out-of-this-world hit with $318 million.

2) 'SHREK THE THIRD'

Everyone's favorite cranky ogre returned to multiplexes and reunited the voices of MIKE MYERS, CAMERON DIAZ and EDDIE MURPHY, as Shrek found himself in line to be the next king of Far, Far Away. And with $321 million in earnings, 'Shrek the Third' seemed destined to rule the box office this year. That is, until...

1) 'SPIDER-MAN 3'

He may be known as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, but it seems like the friendly ones were actually moviegoers, who just couldn't get enough of the web-slinger as he faced not one, but two sinister villains -- Sandman and Venom -- in this third go-around. 'Spider-Man 3' managed to snag a heroic $337 million to make it the most successful film of 2007.
