Kotb is the new co-anchor of the ‘Today’ show alongside Savannah Guthrie.

Al Roker is not letting things slide in 2018! The longtime Today show weatherman took to Twitter on Tuesday to shut down a commenter who was displeased with Hoda Kotb’s new role on the morning show.

Kotb, 53, was officially promoted to co-anchor alongside Savannah Guthrie this week after Matt Lauer was fired from the show in late November.

Following the announcement, one viewer tweeted, “Sorry Hoda ur great with Kathylee but not as anchor. Was looking for a seasoned man – guess NBC doesn’t have one.”

That didn’t seem to sit well with Roker, 63, who replied, “Sounds like you want a steak, not an anchor.”

When the same commenter insisted, “It’s not a gender issue but rather personality. You all are in hype over the wrong issue,” Roker quipped back, “I guess ‘seasoned man’ has nothing to do with gender. I misunderstood. Have a great day.”

Haters aside, Kotb is thrilled by her new role. The new mom and longtime journalist spoke with ET about the promotion and balancing her new responsibilities on Tuesday.

“Today didn’t feel like the first day of school,” she said. “It just felt like it was meant to be like this.”

She will also continue to co-host the final hour of Today with Kathie Lee Gifford.
