Rivervale is back to <a href="https://www.etonline.com/tv/riverdale" target="_blank">Riverdale</a>&nbsp;--&nbsp;Now what?

The hit CW drama just aired its <a href="https://www.etonline.com/riverdale-cole-sprouse-celebrates-100-episodes-and-admits-his-least-favorite-jughead-story" target="_blank">100th episode </a>tonight and while some fans may be scratching their heads after a few ultra meta moments, others are wondering what's to come for Archie, Betty, Jughead, Veronica and the rest of our favorite characters.&nbsp;

To celebrate this milestone moment, ET recently called up star <a href="https://www.etonline.com/people/cole-sprouse" target="_blank">Cole Sprouse</a>, who plays Jughead -- aka&nbsp;Riverdale's forever narrator and writer --&nbsp;to find out how much longer he thinks the series will last.&nbsp;

Plus, we all know that this series has some of the most <a href="https://www.etonline.com/riverdale-boss-breaks-down-jugheads-shocking-voicemail-and-whats-next-for-all-the-ships-exclusive" target="_blank">passionate fandom shippers </a>in TV history, but have you ever wondered what it must be like to be one of the actors involved in a heavily debated love triangle?

Sprouse opened&nbsp;up exclusively to ET about the "traumatic experiences" he and his fellow Riverdale co-stars have experienced over the past five years and what he hopes fans will take away from the show.

ET: Cole, Now that we've officially hit 100 episodes, how much longer do you see Riverdale on the air? Do you have an endgame or an exit strategy in mind?

Cole Sprouse: I think just in a straight up legal sense, contractually it started at seven seasons, which is a pretty standard contract for film and television, so I don't know what happens after that. But the world of Riverdale is open-ended enough to kind of flex alongside that. But I think the quality of a wonderful program is knowing how to wrap it up and say, "Hey, we love you guys. This is the end, and I hope you guys enjoyed the ride."

You always want to leave them wanting more!

Yeah and we talked about this a lot. A lot of teen dramas have a second life. Gossip Girl is actually a great example of this. During quarantine, people were re-binging that show, some new people were coming to it for the first time, a lot of old fans were going to it, and a lot of these shows have that. The OC had that. One Tree Hill had that. A lot of these types of programs have that. Our show's really campy and really over the top sometimes --&nbsp;intentionally. Very intentionally so. And I think due to the cult-like nature of it, I'm hoping that if it does have a second life, people go at it knowing exactly what it was intended to be and go, "Oh my god, we're seeing this with new eyes for the first time for what it really is."

As we're talking about the show coming to an end and the term "endgame" of course, the topic of shippers comes to mind. Honestly, I've never seen a more divided fanbase between the Bughead and Barchie shippers and at times it can be really intense and, frankly, exhausting as a reporter. I can only imagine how you feel about it now as someone who's part of this triangle. Can you talk a bit about your experience?

I'm a little bit conflicted about it&nbsp;because as a natural consequence of the characters we played on the show, a lot of the actors get scrutinized and really put down upon by the opposite sides of this ship debate in real life. There's been a tremendous amount of inquiries into who we are as people, outside of who we are as playing characters.

And I'm not going to lie to you, Leanne. I've seen a lot of my friends, especially on the show, go through really conflicting, borderline traumatic, experiences. From people criticizing every little facet of them, and myself included. I think just in general, celebrity culture or film and television has always had a kind of suspension of disbelief put in place where people have a hard time seeing you outside the character that's existed forever. But it's been really interesting stepping into this part of my career and seeing that from a romantic perspective. And watching how people build certain narratives about you as a real human being outside of the show in consequence to what happens on the show.

Will I say it was the most enjoyable experience? I'd be lying to you if I said yes. Do I understand this is part of the job? Absolutely. And I think it's also a consequence of sort of a younger, very social media savvy audience, but it's been a wild ride. That being said, I think it's a badge of honor that the relationships we portrayed on the show compelled people to such passion.

I think it's beautiful, and that's kind of the currency of the job, is going, "Wow. They really, really love this in a very real sense. They identify with this in a very, very real sense," and that's the power of it. And in a way, that can be incredibly empowering, but it's been a wild ride, and I think episode 100 does a really good job of kind of bringing all that in and speaking directly to the fourth wall and going, "This is where we came from. This is what we did. Hope you guys enjoy the ride."

'Riverdale': Cole Sprouse on When the Show Could End and the Teen TV Revival Trend (Exclusive)

From love triangle trysts and killer twists, to headaches and heartbreak,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.etonline.com/tv/riverdale" target="_blank">Riverdale</a> has given us a wild ride over the past five years and now it's time to <a href="https://www.etonline.com/media/videos/riverdale-cast-rewind-stars-dish-on-the-most-romantic-and-wildest-moments-exclusive" target="_blank">celebrate 100 episodes</a>!

The hit CW series hits their milestone moment with tonight's episode, "Chapter One Hundred: The Jughead Paradox" and who better to fill us in on all the chaos and commotion ahead than everyone's favorite Riverdale narrator?

ET recently called up star <a href="https://www.etonline.com/people/cole-sprouse" target="_blank">Cole Sprouse</a> for an ultra candid chat about the 100th episode ("It's a bit confusing," he admits) and the advice he would give to his younger self on the set of Riverdale's pilot.&nbsp;

Plus, the 29-year-old actor opens up about how he really feels about Jughead's beanie after all these years and reveals his least favorite episode from the past six seasons!

ET: Cole, congratulations on 100 episodes of Riverdale! How are you doing?

Cole Sprouse: Doing good. Doing good. It's raining in Vancouver right now, as per usual. So I'm staring out the window of my apartment, acting moody.

Really setting the scene to get deep and retrospective. Can I be honest with you?

Please.

Your hundredth episode confused the hell out of me.

[Laughs] It's okay. It's okay. We'll all get through it together.

What was&nbsp;your initial reaction when you first read the script for Riverdale's 100th episode?

I loved it! Yeah, I really loved it. I thought the script was&nbsp;really considerate of the entire lineage of the show. I know it can be a bit confusing, but I think it does a really, really good job of speaking directly to the audience who has stuck with us for a while. And also, it's one of the first times — outside general narration — but one of the first times the show has actually discussed why it is the way it is, which I think is important, because this is a cult program, right? It's really campy, it's really large, it can be abstract at times.&nbsp;

And one of the things that I used to hear all the time is that people are constantly questioning why we're taking towards silliness or campiness to discuss certain topics, like when Cheryl is drowning someone in maple syrup. It's not exactly the most normal thing ever, but I think this episode does a really awesome job of going, "Oh, this is why," and finally letting the audience know why —&nbsp;that the show is not stumbling into these narratives blindly, but very consciously putting these things on paper and reacting to that paper in a very specific way. So I think this episode is awesome. I think it does a really good job.

Very important question for you: Do you miss your beanie?

Not at all. The only times I miss my beanie are when it's really cold and I'm working outside.

I was hoping they were going to bring your beanie back for the 100th episode, but instead we got Jughead's literal crown from the comic-books — which I know you love...

Yeah, that's the thing I love. Yeah. If I could wear that every episode, that'd be great. It's just so chill.

A hundred episodes of Riverdale. I feel old.

You're telling me, man. I've been working since diaper commercials, so I'm starting to feel like an old fart.

You obviously have had many, many episodes of television under your belt.

I think I'm up to 400 something. Isn't that nuts?

That's insane! Going into to Riverdale, you were the most experienced cast member — aside from the adults. If you could look back and talk to your younger yourself on the pilot of Riverdale, what would you tell him? Because it's a wild ride you guys have gone through over the past one hundred episodes, both on screen and off.

You know, I've thought about this before. I don't think there was any way I could have prepared myself. I used to get a lot of these questions during the first season of Riverdale's press circuit, and I think the truth is when I left Disney and I went to school and I came back, the entire industry had changed from social media, specifically.

Social media was the biggest changing force that the industry had ever seen. And all of a sudden, for the first time, in a very statistical and numbers sort of way, the industry had become quite conscious of marketability in a way that it had been, but not as much. Sheer number games, follower counts, active presence on social media, things that I was never really privy to, and things that ended up becoming the industry standard.

When we did the first season, the whole thing was filmed and finished before the show came out. So it was really a creative flow state that was not self-conscious, was coming purely from the desire and yearning to make the show the best that it could be. And it was 13 episodes, so it was much more manageable just in a technical and professional sense.

Yeah, jumping to 22 episodes per season was really difficult for this show.

It's not only difficult just in terms of time, but it's really demanding for the writers, and I have a tremendous respect for the writers, because those guys are working all year round. Then even when the script is finished, they have to pitch it and it has to be accepted and it's got to go through edits, and by the time the episode comes out, it's gone through 20 iterations. And then the episode which starts on paper and purely theoretical is then put into practice and changes again. So it's a huge process, and social media confused a lot of that in my opinion, and I don't think there was any way that I could have been prepared.&nbsp;

I think I'm very lucky that people took to the show, and it's created an absolutely stellar platform for all of the young actors on the show to — when the show eventually wraps itself — go, "My god, that was a huge opportunity," and it served as a huge opportunity for us, and it gave us the opportunity to work with a crew that I'm been very close to for six seasons. It's been a wild ride. But I think we're celebrating this 100th episode, and I hope in an industry where we binge these shows now, I'm hoping that the audience can sit down and go, "Wow. 100 episodes. That is insane," and appreciate the amount of work that has gone into that.

I know everyone's going to ask you, "What's your favorite episode?" But I want to know what has been your least favorite story line for Jughead?&nbsp;

[Laughs] Oh yeah. Well, to start, I will say, I think [the 100th episode] is my favorite episode. I will say that. Never knew it was going to come in season six. I have a very, very big fondness for season one, but I think this is my favorite episode.

Then my least favorite storyline, or at least one that I felt completely unequipped to tackle [was episode 319, "Chapter Fifty-Four: Fear the Reaper."]&nbsp;There are times when I'm like, "Oh, wow, I'm really out of my element here." And that was when Gladys, my mother, was locked in a ninja battle with sai — &nbsp;those ninja turtle weapons — fighting in a Jumanji-type board game adventure against Penny Peabody for the life of my younger sister. And my mother, whom I already have an incredibly complicated relationship to, was fighting an enemy that I had skinned the tattoo off of in season two, and I had to sit on the couch passively and try and figure out how I would react in a psychological way. I will say I was a little bit out of my element. [Laughs]

[Laughs] Oh man. If Riverdale ever has a spin-off show, it should just be you explaining what had happened on Riverdale the first time around. 
What's really funny is that during rehearsals, off camera rehearsals or blocking, a lot of the cast will play really outrageous versions of themselves when the cameras are off, just to sort of make the crew and cast laugh — &nbsp;especially KJ and I. And I have always thought, if this were the actual way we played every scene, how people would react to the show. Sign me up, dude. I'm there.

'Riverdale': Cole Sprouse Celebrates 100 Episodes and Admits His Least Favorite Jughead Story (Exclusive)

Sabrina came from Greendale to Rivervale -- and not <a href="https://www.etonline.com/tv/riverdale" target="_blank">Riverdale</a>?&nbsp;Looks like someone needs to adjust their broomstick's GPS!

ET is mapping out everything you need to know about this week's highly anticipated <a href="https://www.etonline.com/tv/chilling-adventures-sabrina" target="_blank">Chilling Adventures of Sabrina</a> crossover with an exclusive interview with the bewitching star herself, <a href="https://www.etonline.com/people/kiernan-shipka" target="_blank">Kiernan Shipka</a>.&nbsp;

ET: We were so excited to hear that our long-awaited Chilling Adventures of Sabrina / Riverdale crossover was finally happening. What was going on behind the scenes to make this finally be the moment that brought you up to Vancouver on the Riverdale set? Break it down for us.

Kiernan Shipka: Oh my gosh. It was a journey. It felt like it took forever to get there, but basically I was working and schedules aligned at a certain point and we just said, OK, we're going to, we're going to really do this. Let's see how we can work it out and fit it in. And before I knew it, I was on a plane up to Vancouver and it was just like old times. It was wonderful.

Let's talk about the episode. By now everyone has seen your bewitching entrance, but you were in Rivervale — not Riverdale. So is this a true crossover in your mind, Kiernan?

I think so. I think it's a crossover because it's still the show Riverdale. So it should count as a crossover, though I don't think that it's the last, I mean, I hope not. I hope we see her again. I hope this is a taste and I hope it makes people want to see Sabrina actually go to Riverdale. I really think that there's something interesting to be had back in Riverdale. And now that we know that Sabrina's back and she could, I think this was sort of just setting everything up.

It was so much fun to see you and Madelaine Petsch share those few scenes together, but in Rivervale, Cheryl is also someone named Abigail, who is also a witch. It was very interesting, but also very confusing. When you read the script where you like, "I'm sorry, I need a cheat sheet?"

Yeah, it's a lot. It was a lot to process. Like, Roberto, catch me up. What is happening here? So yes, I do think that a simple streamlined Riverdale Sabrina episode could also happen.

We definitely want to see that. Which character did you not get to interact with during this crossover that you would like to share scenes with in another crossover?

I mean, I just was with Mads, which was incredible because we'd never hung out before and I think she's the greatest, so we had so much fun, but I mean, I want a Sabrina and Archie moment. How iconic.

But the last time we talked, <a href="https://www.etonline.com/chilling-adventures-of-sabrina-cast-share-their-reactions-to-series-finale-exclusive-158196" target="_blank">Chilling Adventures of Sabrina came to an end</a>. It was an ending that <a href="https://www.etonline.com/chilling-adventures-of-sabrina-finale-kiernan-shipka-and-gavin-leatherwood-on-nabrinas-ending" target="_blank">no one saw coming</a>. We had Sabrina trapped in the afterlife with Nick, so it was kind of like a bittersweet ending. But we need to know: Is she still there?

Well, I don't know. I don't think so. Given the fact that she went to Rivervale, I would think that she found her way out. I don't think she'd want to die. I don't think Sabrina's the type of girl that would just die and deal with it. Like, I really do think that there's no chance that she would not find her way out and that Zelda and Hilda and Ambrose and everyone back on planet Earth would -- I don't think they would stand for it. I just don't. I think, they had the funeral because you have to do that sort of thing, but I think after a minute they would all be like, "OK, we're not going to deal with this!" And they would go get her.

It's been a year since <a href="https://www.etonline.com/media/videos/chilling-adventures-of-sabrina-a-farewell-celebration-with-the-cast-158175" target="_blank">The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina ended,</a> almost two years since you filmed the series finale, so you've had time to digest it. You've had time to see the fans' reactions to the ending. How are you feeling about it now, having almost two years away from this role?

I mean, I feel great about it. I feel so good about what we did. And I'm still so excited by all the stuff that we did. It felt like every episode was just a marathon that we were sprinting and we did it somehow and I'm so immensely proud of just every everyone in that show and what we were able to accomplish in the time that we had. And as time goes on, my heart just gets bigger and bigger for it. I love Sabrina so much. I always will.

So it doesn't sound like you've closed the chapter on this character. Would you be open to stepping back into Sabrina's witchy shoes again?

Yeah. I mean, I always kind of say that, like, I'll play Sabrina, any chance I get. I think that it always has to be right, and it has to align and it has to be good for the moment, but yeah, I love her. I would be hard-pressed to say, "No," to doing a Sabrina anything.

Totally. I'm never the one that's green lighting these things. I'm always down. One thing I know about me is I'm perpetually down to reprise Sabrina, Sally, anytime. Say it, I'm there. I was going to other people that have to do more. I'm a yes woman.

It was so great to see you on Riverdale, but it was too short of a crossover! Pitch us what you would like to see next time? In addition to sharing scenes with Archie, if you could come back to Riverdale, what storyline would you like to see for Sabrina?

Romance. I want Sabrina to hook up with someone in Riverdale. Literally.

You didn't have enough from the strong shippers with Harvey or Nick?

[Laughs] I know, but I just love it for her.

Go, Sabrina, go!

I mean, maybe it's selfish. I love Sabrina when she's just living her life. I love her spellcasting. Don't get me wrong. Yeah. But I've done so much of it that I do feel like Sabrina having grounded relational experiences, especially with characters that we already know and love from Riverdale.&nbsp;

Get ready to stream the next epic sci-fi saga!

Foundation, the highly anticipated drama based on Isaac Asimov’s timeless trilogy, is coming to <a href="https://www.etonline.com/tv/apple-tv" target="_blank">Apple TV+</a> on Sept. 24 -- and only ET has your exclusive first look at new footage and behind-the-scenes commentary from the cast and creators.&nbsp;

"It took a while for the world to be ready for Foundation and that age has finally arrived," executive producer and showrunner David S. Goyer shares in our first look featurette above.

Asimov's original novel was originally published in 1942 and has been a world-renowned blueprint for countless science fiction books, movies and television shows&nbsp;ever since.&nbsp;

"Foundation is the greatest science fiction work of all time and it's never been brought to the screen before," Goyer says.&nbsp;"It was such a phenomenal influence on the <a href="https://www.etonline.com/movies/star-wars" target="_blank">Star Wars</a>&nbsp;universe -- even things like <a href="https://www.etonline.com/latest/movies/dune" target="_blank">Dune</a> were influenced by Foundation."

"It's a story of ideas and they are bold ideas. On&nbsp;one side you've got the genetic dynasty, the empire. On the other side, there's Hari Seldon and a thousand-year chess game in order to save the galaxy," Goyer continues.&nbsp;"The trick was figuring out how to take these weighty ideas that span a millennia and make them emotional."

'Foundation' Sneak Peek: Get Ready for the Epic Story That Influenced 'Star Wars,' 'Dune' and Much More!

<a href="https://www.etonline.com/people/emily-osment" target="_blank">Emily Osment</a> is officially back on another sitcom and this one seems like a little ray of&nbsp;L.A.&nbsp;sunshine!

The 29-year-actress, best known for her roles on Hannah Montana, Young &amp; Hungry and&nbsp;The Kominsky Method, is starring in a&nbsp;new Netflix sitcom,&nbsp;Pretty Smart -- and only ET has your exclusive first look at the trailer.&nbsp;

Oh, and&nbsp;did we also mention that <a href="https://www.etonline.com/people/gregg-sulkin" target="_blank">Gregg Sulkin</a> (Runaways, Faking It) is shirtless and looking ab-tastic in&nbsp;most of the&nbsp;video? (Thank you, Netflix!)

Pretty Smart, which begins streaming on Oct. 8, is a half-hour comedy series centered on the dynamic between two very different sisters.&nbsp;

Chelsea, played by Osment, is&nbsp;a high-brow, Harvard-educated intellectual and aspiring novelist, but after getting dumped by her boyfriend, she's forced to move in with her bubbly, carefree, not-so-intellectual West Coast sister, Claire, played by&nbsp;Olivia Macklin.

Sulkin plays Grant, Claire's&nbsp;ex-boyfriend and roommate who also happens to be a personal trainer, hence all the workout scenes. However, it's clear that Chelsea and Grant share an instant chemistry which could definitely make things a little awkward around the house in this first season.

Emily Osment and a Shirtless Gregg Sulkin Have Cute Chemistry in New Netflix Sitcom 'Pretty Smart'

Josie and the Pussycats are back -- and they're more fabulously fierce than ever before!

There's <a href="https://www.etonline.com/riverdale-boss-breaks-down-jugheads-shocking-voicemail-and-whats-next-for-all-the-ships-exclusive" target="_blank">a huge reunion happening</a> on tonight's all-new episode of <a href="https://www.etonline.com/tv/riverdale" target="_blank">Riverdale</a> thanks to the return of <a href="https://www.etonline.com/people/ashleigh-murray" target="_blank">Ashleigh Murray</a> as Josie McCoy, Hayley Law as&nbsp;Valerie Brown and&nbsp;Asha Bromfield as&nbsp;Melody Jones.

Not only will fans be treated to the most purr-fect episode of season 5, we're also getting multiple musical moments that are sure to have you meowing for more. (Sorry. We're really not kitten around with all these cat puns!)

In anticipation of Josie's big return to Riverdale, ET video chatted with Murray last week to get the inside scoop on what it was really like to step back into Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe, why she was ready to put on the ears again&nbsp;and her one request before coming back to the show.

"I wanted to have a sense of agency, quite frankly," the 22-year-old actress explained over Zoom.&nbsp;"I just really wanted to feel like it was going to be worth not just our time as creators, but it would be worth the viewers' time to see something different that they hadn't seen, and had been asking for, for so long."

Murray left Riverdale in 2019 to<a href="https://www.etonline.com/katy-keene-how-the-spinoff-series-fits-into-the-riverdale-universe-140918" target="_blank"> star in the spinoff series Katy Keene </a>alongside <a href="https://www.etonline.com/people/lucy-hale" target="_blank">Lucy Hale </a>as the titular character. In the series, which unfortunately only lasted on season, Murray played&nbsp;a slightly aged-up version of her Josie McCoy, who moves to New York City to try and break into the music scene in a major way. Now that Riverdale&nbsp;has employed a seven-year time jump in season 5, fans will be getting another glimpse into Josie's future.

"I've been playing her for a while now, and when [Riverdale creator] <a href="https://www.etonline.com/latest/people/roberto-aguirre-sacasa" target="_blank">Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa</a>] approached me with this episode idea, it was to give Josie a chance to come full circle. For her to be a fully realized household name superstar, that we know her to be in the comics, but we hadn't gotten a chance to see onscreen," she said.&nbsp;"So, it was an homage to that, and also a chance to kind of bring a little bit of the Katy Keene Josie that we got to see for just a moment."

"The main reason why I wanted to do it was to give Josie her justice," Murray admitted. "I really wanted there to be more meat for the characters, not just seeing us for a quick moment and then it cuts away, and you have no real understanding of who these characters are, or what the point of them is in this space. I feel like we did a really good job. The writers did a really good job of fleshing out these characters fully onscreen, and I feel like we did a really good job portraying it as well."

"There will be no cutaways!" Murray added with a laugh.&nbsp;"We are onscreen from start to finish."

'Riverdale': Ashleigh Murray Says Josie and the Pussycats Will Finally Get Their Time in the Spotlight

<a href="https://www.etonline.com/people/miranda-cosgrove" target="_blank">Miranda Cosgrove</a> has nothing but great things to say about her former <a href="https://www.etonline.com/tv/icarly" target="_blank">iCarly</a> co-star,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.etonline.com/people/jennette-mccurdy" target="_blank">Jennette McCurdy</a>!

The star of the <a href="https://www.etonline.com/icarly-revival-on-paramount-plus-everything-we-know-161216" target="_blank">hit Paramount+ revival series</a>&nbsp;opened&nbsp;up exclusively to ET about why this new iteration of&nbsp;iCarly&nbsp;continues to <a href="https://www.etonline.com/icarly-cast-opens-up-about-jennette-mccurdys-decision-to-avoid-reboot-and-sams-status-today-166779" target="_blank">honor Carly and Sam's friendship</a> and if McCurdy has reached out to Cosgrove since the new show premiered in June.

"I don't think that she has seen the show since it aired," Cosgrove revealed to ET during a recent Zoom interview. "I'm not sure if she will or not, but I'd love to know, if she ever does watch it, if she likes it or what she thinks of it."

Cosgrove added that "the door's always open" for McCurdy to come back and reprise her role as Carly's cheeky co-host and best friend in the new&nbsp;revival, which has already been <a href="https://www.etonline.com/icarly-reboot-renewed-for-season-2-at-paramount-plus-168888" target="_blank">renewed for a second season </a>on Paramount+.

Back in March, McCurdy <a href="https://www.etonline.com/jennette-mccurdy-says-shes-quit-acting-after-feeling-embarrassed-by-past-roles-161516" target="_blank">revealed that she quit acting in 2017</a>, explaining how she never wanted to act and was forced to by her family. During an episode of her podcast, Empty Inside, the 29-year-old admitted to being "ashamed" of her career and past roles, ultimately saying goodbye to acting.

While McCurdy may not be starring in the new iCarly, the show has made heartwarming references to her character, Sam, during multiple episodes in its first season.&nbsp;

"I really like the most recent episode because we mentioned the Sam character and how Carly has a car that they bought together and it always makes her think of her friendship with Sam," Cosgrove shared of the recent episode, "iCan Fix It Myself."&nbsp;"I can totally relate to that in real life because I didn't want to get rid of my first car at all, the car that I got when I was 16. I was so sentimental about it, so I definitely related to the character in that episode."

"And I would even drive around, when I was younger, with Jennette and we'd go through McDonald's and do a bunch of fun stuff," Cosgrove added with a smile.&nbsp;"So it was very kind of meta, I guess&nbsp;because it's a lot like real life."

The 28-year-old star also opened up about her role as a producer on the new Paramount+ series and how much fun she's having while calling the shots for Carly as an adult.

"I think it was nice that they did a whole storyline, it started off in the pilot, but it was a lot about Carly having a hard time standing on her own two feet," she said.&nbsp;"She's always had a co-host and she had Sam, her best friend on the whole original series. And then she also had a boyfriend that she wanted to co-host a web show with and then he breaks up with her."

Cosgrove continued, "But I feel like I like that Carly's really learning that she has confidence in herself and she can figure out how to do it on her own. And it's opening up, iCarly's starting it all over again in this new way. So that was something that was important to me and I think we covered that a good amount in the first season."

'iCarly': Miranda Cosgrove on Why the Revival Keeps Mentioning Jennette McCurdy's Character Sam (Exclusive)

Well that was intense!&nbsp;<a href="https://www.etonline.com/tv/riverdale" target="_blank">Riverdale's</a>&nbsp;fifth season returned to our screens this week with an episode&nbsp;that was jam-packed with intriguing&nbsp; twists&nbsp;and shocking&nbsp;turns as <a href="https://www.etonline.com/riverdale-sneak-peek-betty-tabitha-and-jessica-team-up-to-find-missing-jughead-exclusive-170250" target="_blank">Betty, Tabitha and Jughead's ex-girlfriend Jessica</a> teamed up to try and track down the missing author.

(By the way...&nbsp;thank you Riverdale,&nbsp;for teaching viewers not to do shrooms while handcuffed to a desk in your former high school sex bunker. It clearly is not the best idea.)

To help make sense of everything that just happened and for a tease at all the drama still to come, ET called up&nbsp;creator <a href="https://www.etonline.com/latest/people/roberto-aguirre-sacasa" target="_blank">Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa</a> for an exclusive breakdown of Betty's now-infamous voicemail from Jughead.

Plus, he shares what's next for Bughead, Choni, Barchie, Jabitha and Varchie in the rest of season 5,&nbsp;and what can fans expect from the upcoming musical episode, and the highly anticipated return of Josie and the Pussycats.&nbsp;Keep reading&nbsp;for all the inside scoop!

ET: This first episode back after the hiatus is wild, but my biggest takeaway was I need more Tabitha and Betty pretty please!

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa: I'm with you! That's so funny and the gift of this episode is getting to see Lili [Reinhart] and Erinn [Westbrook] in scenes together. It's funny because in the writers' room we went from, like, shipping Tabitha and Jughead to shipping Tabitha and Betty! [Laughs] They're so good together and I'm very happy to tell you that friendship continues through the rest of season five. What's great is the episode is sort of like the ghosts of girlfriends past, present and future with Jughead and I love that we're finally hearing the contents of the mysterious voicemail.&nbsp;

Yes, let's talk about that voicemail because that message was way more intense and damning than I thought it was going to be. However, I need to praise Cole [Sprouse] because he absolutely crushed it and his vocal performance was both so visceral and moving. Talk to me about how you created that moment.

Yeah, well first off, Cole did kill it on that voicemail and I will say he first recorded it when we shot that episode. But in an upcoming episode, we follow Jughead and everything that has happened in those seven years. We see how Betty and Jughead's relationship evolved over those seven years and we see the events that lead to that tragic night when he left that message --&nbsp;and Cole's performance in that episode is so good.&nbsp;

And I've got to give him all the credit because he reached out to me and he said, "Hey, I want to go back and I want to re-record the message that I left Betty in 511." So even after we locked that episode, we went back and looped in Cole's [new] performance. And these poor actors, you know they sometimes have no idea why they're doing things, but then they find out three episodes later. So with Cole we initially talked a little bit about the voicemail and he totally dove in and went for it --&nbsp;but then once he had more context, he went back and re-recorded it and it's a beautiful performance that Cole gives in that episode.&nbsp;

Do you feel like the additional context from this future episode which explores Jughead's past will help to change the audience's perspective of the voicemail?

Yeah I definitely think so, I love Jughead's arc and in a very real way this season is kind of about him unpacking his trauma. I think he's wrestling with some even more real demons, like I think we'll see him wrestling with some of the same problems his father had, like alcoholism for instance. And I think if not for Cole, I'm not sure that that storyline would land the way that it does, but again he's so good.&nbsp;

And listen, that's a pretty terrible message, but I think people will understand where Jughead's headspace was when we get to that [future] episode. And listen, I love Jughead and I root for him and I root for him and Betty so hopefully people will understand that that voicemail reflects a moment in time. But it is pretty intense though. I remember when I first was watching I was like, "Oh God!" but again, Cole killed it. And I think Betty, and subsequently Lili, I think she weirdly understands Jughead better than anyone and I think it's close to a dealbreaker, but hopefully not a dealbreaker.&nbsp;

Well, speaking of Betty and Jughead, should we dive into our traditional "Riverdale Romance Rundown" for what's next for all our potential ships in the rest of season 5?&nbsp;

Yes!

Okay, perfect. Let's talk about Betty's romantic life: Have we reached the end of Barchie? We haven't seen Betty and Archie together in a minute and it seems like she's a bit preoccupied with finding Jug. What's their status?&nbsp;

I will say that when Betty and Archie had to table their relationship, we really liked them together -- even just as friends with benefits. It kind of reminded us that even as friends, it's great to see Betty and Archie. So I will say we do pick that up towards the end of the season and we do explore another facet of Betty and Archie being together that's different from just friends, that's different from being friends with benefits. I'll leave it to you to speculate on what that different facet is, but it is coming. It is coming.&nbsp;

I'm not sure how&nbsp;Betty and Jughead fans are going to feel after they hear the voicemail, but I'm sure they're still going to be diehard for Bughead. What can you tease about these two as they try to put pieces back together --&nbsp;even though those pieces seem pretty smashed right now?

What's funny is that Betty and Jughead haven't really been in a storyline together [this season] and when we did the time jump we really wanted to make sure that when we returned to it, [Riverdale] didn't immediately fall into the same show. But I will say we love that Betty is worried about Jughead, we love that she's teaming up with Tabitha to try and find him. And there's one scene, I think it's maybe episode 516 that is almost like a standalone mini opera. It's just Betty and Jughead alone and it's so good to see Lili and Cole in scenes together and their chemistry is sort of undeniable. So we are going to see more of Betty and Jughead and even if it doesn't mean that they are immediately getting back together, they were an important part of each other's life and it's good that we're getting back to that.&nbsp;

I just love Tabitha so much and I think the actress who plays her, Erinn Westbrook, is doing such a great job with the role. And I'm loving the dynamic between Tabitha and Jughead because they definitely have chemistry. What can you tease about this potential ship?&nbsp;

Erinn is an amazing actor and what's so hard is she joined us during a pandemic when we couldn't even have a "Welcome to Riverdale!" party for Erinn, but she has slipped in effortlessly. And what's funny is that she and Cole have amazing chemistry together, but I remember when we started this season, Cole was like, "Oh my God, Roberto, please let Jughead be single for a little bit." And I was like, "I hear you Cole, but let's just see what happens." [Laughs] But I love them together and I think the fact that they haven't gotten together is a good thing because I think Jughead is not in a place to rush into anything. I'm happy that their friendship is developing first and foremost so that if they do explore something romantic, that it will hopefully be a more solid base and Jughead will kind of have his head on a little bit straighter. But there's definitely more coming with Tabitha and Jughead, they have a really great storyline in our musical episode later this season.&nbsp;

And you know what's funny is that Cole is singing in the musical, which is great! He may not like it, but he's so good at it and he's so swoon-worthy. Normally I will reach out to Cole, but genuinely it got away from me this year, so Cole reached out and he's like, "Oh my God, Roberto another musical? And I'm singing?" And I was like, "Please Cole, you have to do it, you're so swoon-worthy when you sing!" So [Tabitha and Jughead] have a really nice story in that musical episode. And Cole, if he wants to be a musical leading man, that's one of the things that he can and should do because he's great.&nbsp;

Let's talk about Veronica and Archie. I feel like it's the same dance, different day, we just have to get Chad out of the way. What's next for these two?

Well it's interesting because in this first episode back, one thing that's very significant --&nbsp;and I have to tell people to keep an eye on it --&nbsp;is that Archie says to Veronica, "Hey, until you're fully divorced from Chad, I think we should slow down." And that is a decision that is going to have huge repercussions in subsequent episodes, so keep a very close eye on that pact that Archie and Veronica make. And I love that scene towards the end of the episode when they're in the diner and you can tell that both of them want to immediately embrace and get back together and that they're trying to be responsible and clear their debts. But yeah that conversation seems like a little thing, but it resonates very deeply in the rest of the season.&nbsp;

What can you tease about the return of the one-and-only Toni Topaz and could we see the rise of Choni in subsequent episodes?&nbsp;

Yes, Vanessa [Morgan] is coming back and we're going to be with Toni for the birth of the baby! And you do get to see more of Toni and Cheryl, but even more importantly, you see more of Toni. And one of the things that was really important to us coming back this year was making sure that Toni and Cheryl had good separate storyline and that we weren't just focusing on Toni as part of Choni.&nbsp;

So when Vanessa came back from her leave, we once again wanted to make sure that we were honoring that character, so you will see more of Toni and Cheryl. But you're also going to see more of Toni and Fangs, which is great. You're going to see more of Toni and Archie, so it's been really great. And I have been teasing that in the Josie and the Pussycats episode, as a bonus we get great music that has Tabitha, Toni and Alexander Cabot from Katy Keene and&nbsp;it's honestly just pure joy.&nbsp;

I'm so excited! You know how much I've always loved the Pussycats and seeing Ashleigh Murray as Josie, so I can't wait to see them again! Break it down for me: Is it a one episode extravaganza? What can you tell me?

You know what, this is what I'll say: Once we get a little bit closer let's have another talk about the Pussycats and I will spill all the tea.&nbsp;

Deal! Until then, give me a little tease. What was it like having Ashleigh back on set?&nbsp;&nbsp;

It was amazing and when I talked to Ashleigh and the girls about bringing them back they were like, "Okay, what's the story?" And I'm proud to say I think this is our best Josie and the Pussycats story. They're such stars and we're doing something with Josie that we've never done before. We didn't do it on Riverdale, we didn't do it on Katy Keene. We'll talk about it when we get a little bit closer but I've got to tell you, Hayley [Law] and Asha [Bromfield] they're so good and they're such stars and I think people's minds are going to be blown by it because this is one of the best episodes we've done this season.&nbsp;

And this episode with Josie and the Pussycats is separate from the next&nbsp;Riverdale musical episode?

Yes! And you know that's funny is we had to shoot the pussycats episode out of order, so the pussycats episode was actually the last episode we shot this season. It was one of our biggest episodes and it was at the end of the year so everyone was exhausted, but everyone gave it their all and it's a real thing of beauty. I think people will be blown away by it and I will definitely be talking to you when we get a little bit closer because it's pretty special.&nbsp;
