By Raphael Chestang
Sports Illustratedhas announced an unprecedented two-day celebration for its 2015 Swimsuit issue, which will feature musical performances by Kings of Leon.
While the cover usually features bathing beauties in tropical locales, the celebration will be held in Nashville on Feb. 11 and 12. In addition to Kings of Leon, emerging Nashville artists of all genres will perform during the festivities and fans will be treated to appearances from the cast of the 2015 production.
"Nashville is the perfect city to partner with as we embark on our plan to engage swimsuit fans through bold new consumer events," said Brendan Ripp, Sports Illustrated Publisher. "We are completely aligned in every way and especially in our commitment to authenticity and brand heritage. The outpouring of support from the entire city has been tremendous and we look forward to a wonderful celebration."
The magazine teamed up with the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. for the highly anticipated launch.
"This is an unprecedented opportunity for Nashville to take our message worldwide," said Ken Levitan, Chairman of the Board for the Nashville CVC. "We are honored to partner with Sports Illustrated and look forward to showcasing our food, fashion, sports and of course, music."
The 2015 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue launches with a cross-platform debut in print, digital and mobile on Feb. 9. SI Swimsuit has been touted as the "Oscars of Swimwear" with an illustrious list of former cover models that includes Kathy Ireland, Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, Elle McPherson, Brooklyn Decker and Kate Upton.
We can't wait to see who will grace the cover this year!
