Despite her current legal troubles, Felicity Huffman will soon be back on TV.

The Emmy-winning actress portrays prosecutor Linda Fairstein in Ava DuVernay’s star-studded miniseries, When They See Us, about the 1989 rape and murder of a jogger in New York City’s Central Park.

The four-part, limited series chronicles the subsequent trials involving the wrongful conviction of five teenagers of color -- Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise -- who became known as the "Central Park Five," and their eventual exoneration after years in prison.

Rising stars, Jharrel Jerome, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, Freddy Miyares and Justin Cunningham, portray the five teenagers at the center of this story, while Vera Farmiga, John Leguizamo, Niecy Nash, Blair Underwood, Christopher Jackson, Joshua Jackson, Famke Janssen and Storm Reid fill out the rest of the ensemble cast.

In the intense first trailer for the series, Huffman is seen as Fairstein, who allegedly coerced false confessions out of the five teenagers after detectives held them for 30 hours of questioning.

When They See Us marks DuVernay’s second scripted TV series and her first for Netflix, for which she directed the Oscar-nominated documentary, 13th.

Meanwhile, this marks Huffman’s first major role since she's become shrouded in scandal after she was charged with spending $15,000 in a nationwide college admissions cheating scam to get her daughter into college. The actress has since plead guilty but still may face jail time in the ongoing case. The actress previously appeared on TV in the anthology series, American Crime, earning three Emmy nominations.

While the April debut of her Netflix film, Otherhood, was delayed, When They See Us has not been pushed back and is slated to debut on May 31 as planned.
