Living Her Best Set Life
It's pretty great to be Julianne Hough right now! ET has exclusive pics of the 29-year-old actress on the set of her new movie, Bigger, with co-stars Taylor Hoechlin and Colton Haynes.
Hough and Hoechlin were spotted filming along the water in Orange Beach, Alabama, on Nov. 13.
Hough rocked a retro turquoise swimsuit while filming on the bright, sunny southern day.
Hough plays Betty Weider in the film, while Hoechlin plays her husband, Joe Weider. The film, expected out in 2018, is about Joe and his brother, Ben Weider, widely considered the grandfathers of the modern fitness movement.
Fun With Fitness
Betty Weider was a co-founder of SHAPE Magazine, a women's fitness publication that Hough graced the cover of five times. "It's a really special thing to be able to be a part of something that is so influential in my life today," the dancer-turned-actress explained. "Without [the Weiders] and the redefining of what fitness and health beauty meant back then -- that's what we're all relishing in today. So, it's pretty amazing."
The Utah native's signature blonde locks were even done up into big, old Hollywood-style waves.
With how much Betty Weider's work means to Hough, it's no surprise she wanted to do the portrayal justice, a feat that goes beyond physical appearance. "We have the amazing wardrobe and hair and makeup to obviously transform you," Hough explained for how she got into character, adding, "There's such an elegance and grace that Betty has... We want her to feel as real as possible and still try to emulate what she looked like."
Hough and Hoechlin even psyched each other up with high fives.
Back on Track
If we were Hough, we'd be smiling this big from being in hunky Hoechlin's arms, too!
Gotta make sure you get the shot from all angles!
"She looked incredible her whole life, and she definitely took care of herself, and, obviously, that's what this whole story is about," Hough told ET during a Bigger set visit. "I haven't personally met her, but I have done so much research about her and the time period that she was in when she was at the height of her career and being the quintessential model that she was, but she is just a boss lady. She's amazing."
Not only do they play husband-and-wife on-screen, Hoechlin and Hough clearly help each other out between takes, too!
This was clearly a fun scene to shoot!
Hough told ET that filming Bigger has been an amazing experience, especially after taking a few years off from acting. "[I've] been focusing on my tours and stuff with my brother [Derek Hough], so to be able to come back in and do something, obviously, that I'm extremely passionate about today but also has nothing to do with dancing or singing or this musical world, but it's a great story based on a true story, it means a lot," she said.
Fun in the Sun
Don't worry, Hough and Hoechlin weren't the only ones having a good time frolicking on the beach!
With a view like this, who wouldn't want to come to work?
Riding the Wave
"It's actually amazing," Hough said of the Bigger set during ET's visit. "I was just in the hair and makeup trailer, and as I came out dressed [in costume], there were all the men bodybuilders there getting ready... and I'm like, 'Oh, this is a great set!'"
See ya later, Alabama!
